Since initiating the development of Korea’s first domestically produced battleship, the ROKS Ulsan, in 1975, we have developed a wide range of cutting-edge naval vessels, including world-class Korean Aegis destroyers and next-generation Korean submarines, supplying them to the Republic of Korea Navy and Korea Coast Guard. We also have played a pioneering role in establishing the nation’s independent naval shipbuilding capabilities.

Based on cutting-edge naval vessel technology accumulated over 40 years, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries’ Special Ship & Naval Shipbuilding Division has grown into a world-class naval vessel specialist. We are now actively participating in the projects led by foreign navies including the New Zealand Navy, Bangladesh Navy, Venezuelan Navy, Philippine Navy, and Peru’s state-owned SIMA shipyard.

Recently, we are developing Unmanned Surface Vessels (USVs), which are considered as game-changers on future battlefields, in collaboration with US defense AI companies such as Palantir and Anduril. We are also leading Korea-US shipbuilding cooperation by building partnership with Huntington Ingalls, the largest defense shipyard in US.
